About the Event

The saying goes, "Iaughter is the best medicine" so The Selfcare Festival and Comedy on The Commons are proud to bring you a healthy dose of stand-up comedy. Join us September 14th, 2019 at The Space at Greenstar for an evening of fun and laughter. Hosted by Ithaca's funniest Kenneth McLaurin and featuring nationally touring comedian Travis Blunt, this is a don't miss event.

North Carolina native, Kenneth, has long called himself, "The Funniest Person You've Never Heard Of." But his first album, Cuttin Up Comedy at the Shop, his Kitchen Theatre show Southern Fried Ithaca. and Singing Notes and Slinging Jokes, is rapidly changing that. He has written plays for the One Minute Play Festivals at the Kitchen Theatre. His project 10 Short Films About Race was featured as a part of Spring Writes Literary Festival. Currently Kenneth and his wife SingTrece are producing and performing their own show Singing Notes and Slinging Jokes, a unique blend of music, song, story, comedy, love, and laughter. "Life's a joke, find the funny" is his life's motto, and all that know him will tell you Kenneth, has certainly found it. Witty, Clever, Insightful, sometimes Shocking, but always Funny is what you get with Kenneth.

Travis Blunt, fresh from his Comedy Central television debut on Kevin Hart’s Hart of the City and filming for the Yo Cannabis Comedy Festival is here to bring the funny. Originally from Syracuse NY, Travis has been performing all over the country for almost a decade. He has shared the stage with other big names like Damon Wayans, Lavell Crawford, Kevin Nealon, Tony Rock and more. His jokes center on personal issues like being biracial, financial struggles, relationships and more.
